Annual Giving

Each year, thousands of people support LFS through annual giving, providing critical operating funds for our array of human services. LFS is committed to providing healing and wholeness to the Carolinas most vulnerable people. In many instances that means we subsidize care, particularly when we reach out to people who fall though the cracks of the traditional human services system.

Here are just some of the ways that your gift, multiplied with the gifts of others, helps children, adults, families and communities across the Carolinas.
Thousands of abused and neglected children are looking for safety, security and love in foster and adoptive homes. Donations help pay for recruitment and training of professional treatment parents so there is always enough love to go around. More young adults than ever are “aging out” of the foster care system. Many of these children wind up in homeless shelters or out on the street. LFS uses contributions to fund innovative transitional housing programs to give them new hope and opportunities.

Many Hurricane Katrina evacuees are still struggling to rebuild their lives. Emergency funds from the American Red Cross and FEMA are no longer available. In many communities, LFS is the “last agency standing” offering support to evacuees. Refugee families who flee persecution from violent regimes in their home countries arrive with little more than plastic bags carrying their worldly belongings. The US federal government offers minimal assistance. LFS uses donations to help refugees learn English, find housing and jobs to become contributing members of our society.

Churches all over the Carolinas are identifying pressing human needs in their local communities, but they have no experience or resources to reach out. Contributions help LFS bring experience and resources to church-based social ministry efforts that transform congregations and communities.
