LFS is committed to research, innovation and evidence-based practice in the on-going
evolution of its service array. We define success as our ability to efficiently
and effectively work in partnerships to help the Carolinas’ most vulnerable
people find healing and wholeness.
Vulnerable People
Although LFS is one of the largest human service providers in the Carolinas, serving
more than 14,000 people a year, we touch them in the most personal ways at times
of sometimes unimaginable vulnerability. In doing this work, we realize that our
efforts are not about us at all, but ultimately about creating healing and wholeness
for those we serve. We are an organization chartered by the Lutheran Church. We
embrace our Lutheran roots, but we help people of all faith traditions, colors,
creeds and orientations.
Innovation
Our ways of providing services are constantly evolving. We have and array of programs
and services that help children, adults, families and whole communities. Those services
evolve over time, but our desire to engage others and create meaningful outcomes
for them never wavers. Whenever possible, we work in partnership with vulnerable
people and support systems including congregations and other human service providers
to promote wholeness. We “walk with” others rather than doing something
“to” them.
