A Helping Hand

Sometimes the most difficult part of taking a positive step forward is being able to accept the helping hand reaching out to assist you. Often we feel we must do everything alone but that is not always the case.

For Rhonda Caldwell the fact that she will soon be able to call herself a college graduate and a homeowner is due, in part, to her willingness to accept the assistance of the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program at LFS Carolinas.

The FSS program is designed to assist families living in subsidized housing with achieving the goal of self sufficiency. Program participants establish goals to increase their incomes and identify and address barriers that may prevent them from accomplishing these goals. They are also linked with case managers who can offer one-on-one support to their individual situations.

Prior to entering the program Rhonda says she was not living the way she wanted; but her four children made her realize the changes she needed to make.

WHAT'S NEW

Give Joy

As your congregation or business prepares for the holiday season, we ask that you consider placing an angel tree in your place of worship or office and encouraging your members to GIVE JOYto person in need.

It’s as easy as setting up a tree! We will provide an ornament for the sponsoring member to add to their own tree with the wishes of one of your neighbors attached. This year, we are asking that sponsors GIVE JOYthrough a gift card or cash donation. This will allow us to serve more people and allow for us to fulfill the wishes of the child that enters our care on Christmas Eve.

If you are interested in participating this year, please contact us at info@lfscarolinas.org.

Lutheran Counseling Center Moves to St. Mark's

The Lutheran Counseling Center, Charlotte is pleased to announce a move to office space at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte.

We are excited to be a guest of St. Mark’s and to continue providing professional, affordable counseling and education services to our community.  The office has a separate entrance and is separate from the main church area, providing those we serve with the confidentiality and comfort that they have come to expect.

Please join us in thanking St. Mark’s for extending their hospitality and continue to support us with your prayers, donations to our CARE Fund and referrals.
