Now in its fourth year, SPLASH (Students Playing, Learning and Staying Healthy), is a fun way for children to improve their literacy and socialization skills. SPLASH is a six weeks summer camp running from June 9 through July 18. The camp is being offered in a cooperative partnership by Reformation Lutheran Church and Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas to refugee and immigrant children in the Columbia, S.C. area.
Since 2005, SPLASH has served children from nations such as Burma, Mexico, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, India and many others. This year's camp will welcome 50 children from seven different nations!
"Even though they are from very different cultures, children learn how to get along with each other at the SPLASH Camp," said Camp Director Cindy Ott. "This ESL summer camp teaches children to respect each other, accept each other and appreciate the diversity of creation within an environment of academics and fun."
SPLASH Camp is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the lives of children. Find out more about SPLASH Camp and how you can help.
SPLASH is also a perfect trip for youth groups. Contact Cindy Ott for information about bringing your group to join us.
