Rapid Resource for Families (ncrapidresource.org)
For many years, the state of North Carolina has been discussing alternatives for children in group home care and working toward solutions that could offer a home environment for every child.
Rapid Resource for Families is a nonprofit created by Alexander Youth Network, Barium Springs Home for Children, Easter Seals UCP and LFS Carolinas in response to the NC Department of Health and Human Services announcement that Level III and Level IV group homes will be phased out and children will transition into therapeutic foster care. An estimated 2,100 children will be in need of caring families who have been trained to meet the children’s unique treatment demands.
As a one call center for referring organizations who need immediate placements, Rapid Resource for Families provides a unified and transparent in-take and placement process that allows a speedy match between children and families.
By contacting Rapid Resource, referring agencies will be linked into a network of therapeutic foster care and in-home services that ensure high quality, evidence based, outcome driven services and supports.
WISH (Workforce Initiative for Supportive Housing) (wishprogram.org)
Many of the homeless people in our communities are working poor families struggling to secure permanent housing. An unexpected expense or loss of a job is often all it takes to leave a family homeless. The WISH program helps working poor families in the Charlotte region who are homeless or close to homeless by providing life-skills support from social workers and a monthly rent subsidy for an affordable apartment. WISH also works with local faith groups, who comprise Hope Teams, to provide emotional, physical and spiritual support for families.
WISH is a
collaborative project of Crisis Assistance Ministry, Project HOPE, Goodwill Industries, LFS Carolinas, Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services and referring homeless shelters.
Veterans Administrations of North and South Carolina
The Veterans Administrations of North and South Carolina work alongside LFS Carolinas to provide residents of our transitional housing facilities for homeless veterans with assessment, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, medical care / treatment, medication management and both group and individual therapy.
